Abstract

CABRAL, Cicerón Muro. Modus Vivendi and Agonistic Democracy Realistic Conceptions of Political Stability and Democracy. Revista SAAP [online]. 2023, vol.17, n.1, pp.105-114.  Epub Sep 01, 2023. ISSN 1853-1970.  http://dx.doi.org/10.46468/rsaap.17.1.n2.

This research note presents some of the problems and arguments for the formulation of a theoretical model of political stability and democracy from a realistic perspective. The problem of research concerns the type of democracy required for the stability of a modus vivendi in a liberal regime considering a realistic conception of politics. The hypothesis that is argued is that agonistic democracy is the conception of democracy adequate for the political stability of a modus vivendi if the postulates of contemporary political realism are considered. The proposed methodology defines the conceptual relationships between both conceptions and political realism.
