Abstract

GOMEZ, Amanda. Elvira López: Feminist Pioneer in Argentina. Cuyo-anu. filos. argent. am. [online]. 2015, vol.32, n.1, pp.17-37. ISSN 1853-3175.

This article explores the philosophical and feminist ideas that Elvira López presented in her PhD thesis in philosophy, titled El movimiento feminista. Primeros trazos del feminismo en Argentina, in 1901. The research centers on how philosophical currents, such as positivism, and the feminist perspectives present in Argentina towards the end of the 19th Century, came together. The basic topics are education, family and work. They relate to each other in order to explain the social movements and changes that took place at the beginning of the 20th Century.

Keywords : Feminism; Philosophy; Elvira López; Positivism.
