Abstract

PULGAR CASTRO, Rodrigo. About Utopia and Person as an Anthropological Element. Cuyo-anu. filos. argent. am. [online]. 2016, vol.33, n.1, pp.49-68. ISSN 1853-3175.

The circumstances that give sense to Tomas Moro's Utopia are related to an archetype of society born in Tomas Moro's imagination, yet sustained in a mathematical structure that legitimizes it as a socio-political critique exercise of the government ruling in 16th century's England. By having in mind the cultural, political and social differences that exist between Tomas Moro's and the current century, the aim of this article is to show his validity as a lens of critical contrast. Thus, along this article, there is a progress in the knowledge of the causes of the utopian work, in the role of imagination in its creation; there are questions about its current importance, and, in addition, a pointing to political, cultural and human factors that characterize this century's reality as a probable scenario for a utopic narrative.

Keywords : Political Philosophy; Utopian Model; Critical Meaning of Utopia; Current Importance of Utopia.
