Abstract

ACEVEDO, Mariela. Una reflexión sobre los aportes de la Epistemología Feminista al campo de los Estudios Comunicacionales. Cuad. Cent. Estud. Diseñ. Comun., Ensayos [online]. 2015, n.54, pp.137-148. ISSN 1853-3523.

In the scientific field and in other spaces of material and symbolic production, women have claimed that the feminine perspective when approaching an object of knowledge, modifies both the product and the process of social production of knowledge. This article gathers some contributions of feminist epistemology to the field of social sciences, specifically those pertaining to communication studies that are developed especially around visual culture. These productions, which we will call the artistic communication, are vehicles for values, worldviews and power relations: in short, ideology. Visual Culture Studies or Visual Studies try to make intelligible these crossings and therefore devote special attention to this sort of "transdicipline". This paper proposes to reflect about the constitution of a new interdisciplinary field, the Visual Studies from the transversal approach of feminism born in the struggles for equality and their contributions for a review of artistic-communication productions.

Keywords : Epistemology; Feminism; Visual Studies.
