Abstract

CASANOVA VARELA, Basilio. El arte de la creación. Cuad. Cent. Estud. Diseñ. Comun., Ensayos [online]. 2020, n.79, pp.95-101. ISSN 1853-3523.  http://dx.doi.org/10.18682/cdc.vi79.3678.

We reflect in this brief article on the artistic creation fact linking it with the sublimation process as it has been theorized first by Sigmund Freud and later by Jacques Lacan, Jesús González Requena and Massimo Recalcati. Our starting point is two well-known works: the rock paintings at Lascaux cave -the sorcerer being rammed by a wounded beast- and the other from the Sistine Chapel -the creation of Adam of Miguel Ángel. From the confrontation of both works with the theory of artistic sublimation we can deduce that what makes art socially valuable is its ability to make us play the truth of desire, their unconscious cause, the emptily that constitutes it; the mystery from its birth.

Keywords : art; motivation; creation; sublimation; desire..
