Abstract
OROZCO, Wilson. La representación ficcional de la pobreza en Tierra sin pan y Agarrando pueblo. Cuad. Cent. Estud. Diseñ. Comun., Ensayos [online]. 2020, n.79, pp.172-178. ISSN 1853-3523. http://dx.doi.org/10.18682/cdc.vi79.3683.
One of the most representative films of the beginnings of the second Spanish Republic is a “Land without bread” by Luis Buñuel. This film has never been without controversy due to the fictional recreation of the extreme poverty. On the other hand, Luis Ospina, one of the most important Colombian filmmakers, has always pointed out the influence of the Spanish director in his work and takes generally as a particular case “Land without bread”. Ospina, with Carlos Mayolo, performed in 1978 a documentary called “Catching people” in which they subvert the genre through a scathing parody which criticizes those directors who seek awards and fundings thanks to the fictional recreation of Latin American poverty. The primary interest of this work is to note some similarities between both documentaries.
