This article describes the case of academic journals in the field of education that were published by the year 2018 in Argentina. The case is framed within the problematic of digitalization for social and human sciences journals in general. In particular, it discusses the opportunities and challenges that digitization and online accessibility pose for these journals, their relationship with the open access movement and with indexation processes, and the role played by both regional initiatives such as SciELO and RedALyC and the resources offered from State organisms at the national level.
