Abstract

ANTONIUCCI, Melina. Ésta se fue, ésta murió, ésta ya no está más. El Archivo de la Memoria Trans en Argentina. Cuad. Cent. Estud. Diseñ. Comun., Ensayos [online]. 2021, n.92, pp.20-39.  Epub Aug 15, 2021. ISSN 1853-3523.  http://dx.doi.org/10.18682/cdc.vi92.3874.

The processes of memory reconstruction are no more than the reflection of political struggles that precede that (re) construction. What is remembered? How do you remember? and, above all, whom do you remember? are some of the key questions. Argentina, one of the countries that has been most concerned about reconstructing and remembering its recent past of enforced disappearances and State terrorism, is often referred to worldwide for its exercise of memory. However, when it comes to the transsexual, transgender and transvestite community, the exercise of memory was not able to establish itself as a paradigm of recognition of human rights. This research goes through the process of creating the Trans Memory Archive that exists in Argentina since 2012 on the initiative of a group of activists and artists who, in a self-managed and self-financed way, managed to gather more than 4000 images and objects belonging to the memory and trans culture of the 80s, 90s and early 2000s.
