Teaching and training future designers for the contemporary work field require lecturers and instructors to use different methods, tactics and resources to achieve a meaningful learning experience. Such resources compenhend: case studies, problembased learning methods, comprehensive projects, participatory dynamics, experimental workshop, among others. These tools promote experimental and meaningful learning experiences for students. This article is focused on experiential learning, a method promoted by involving groups of students with external technicians from public institutions and business representatives. This allows the classroom to become a participatory and practical learning space, bringing students closer to their professional practice. The paper explains the experiences inside and outside the classroom, the strategy, method and structure of the teaching and learning process for the “Strategic Design Workshop”, an undergraduate course in the Design Career at the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador.
