Abstract
NAVARRETE, Sandra. Los espacios del silencio. Una reflexión de base fenomenológica de lo no evidente en la arquitectura. Cuad. Cent. Estud. Diseñ. Comun., Ensayos [online]. 2022, n.109, pp.213-228. Epub June 01, 2022. ISSN 1853-3523. http://dx.doi.org/10.18682/cdc.vi109.4223.
For Grauss, silence “is a word that is expected to be spoken sometime.” In architectural theory there is an unexplored field of words to say. It is possible to cite texts of enormous sensitivity, although they are not intentionally framed in the paradigm that underlies the architecture of all time: phenomenology. The difference between extraordinary, transcendent, phenomenological architecture and common architecture has already been investigated.
Different qualities can be recognized in phenomenological architecture. This text addresses a particular variable: silence. In silence dwells everything that is in suspense, which may be present. In architecture, silence is expressed in different ways ... in the recollection of sacred spaces, in the serene intimacy of semi-gloomy sites, in the absence of ornaments, in the synthesis of formal languages. Thus, it can be stated hypothetically that there is an architecture of silence, and paradoxically that silence is full of messages.
