Abstract

CARRILLO, Silvia Zeas. Los procesos creativos de Anni Albers, diseñadora textil de la Escuela Bauhaus. Cuad. Cent. Estud. Diseñ. Comun., Ensayos [online]. 2022, n.113, pp.92-111.  Epub June 01, 2022. ISSN 1853-3523.  http://dx.doi.org/10.18682/cdc.vi113.4247.

The paths that a designer can choose to develop their creative processes are diverse, one cannot speak of one and with only one journey; it is the designer who, based on his expertise and knowledge, will choose the way forward. This work seeks to demonstrate that design products are the result of a creative process made up of research, conceptualization and experimentation phases to come up with the proposal of a sketch or prototype; for this, five works by Textile Designer Anni Albers, who trained at the Bauhaus School under a post-war scenario where arts and crafts were valued, are analyzed.

The pedagogy that the Bauhaus teaches included in its program learning through workshops that would later take the name of the laboratories, where each student through experimentation with materials, techniques and their senses found their vocation. Among these workshops is the “Weaving Workshop”, the place where Anni Albers found the way to express her creativity, and who influenced the acquired knowledge of Color Theory and Abstract Art from masters Paul Klee and Vasil Kandisky; in turn, transmitting sensations through his works was one of his obstacles.

Albers’ works show a deep process of experimentation, where alternative materials to traditional textiles are incorporated, stories such as: cellophane, metals, plastic, fiberglass, among others; which provide unique properties to their tissues such as being soundproof or light refractory.
