This work deals with the most relevant school literature formats published in Argentina. On the one hand, a route is traced through the discursive formats or genres of greatest circulation in the different periods and is linked to the state and editorial policies that support them. On the other hand, the imaginary of literature and reading (re) configured in said materials are investigated. With all this, it is intended to account for the tension between literature and didactics that breaks out in different ways in the different proposals and to analyze how editorial mediation operations influence the imaginary of children’s literature and deploy certain reading protocols.
