Abstract

CORTES SALINAS, Alejandro  and  FIGUEROA MARTINEZ, Cristhian. Actividades en el espacio-tiempo del intercambio modal: oportunidades para el usuario en un sistema de transporte público inconcluso. Cuad. urbano [online]. 2013, vol.15, n.15. ISSN 1853-3655.

Modal shift is today a common and desirable practice in public transport policies. In the case of Santiago de Chile, it was a collateral effect of the public transport reform developed in 2007 (Transantiago). This underestimation and the generalized lack of appropriate in-frastructures allowed people to introduce of new activities as part of their trips, facilitating the resolution of simple needs, such as purchasing food. To comprehend this phenomenon this paper analyzes a modal shift point in Santiago (La Cisterna subway station) that shows how people use this situation to create opportunities to recover the city and complement the service offered by the public transport system.

Keywords : Modal transfer shift; Mobility practices; Transport infrastructures.
