Abstract

RAUSCH, Gisela Ariana. El paradigma del hiperconsumo en contextos espaciales ambientalmente críticos: Santa Fe (Argentina) y la urbanización del valle aluvial del río Paraná a finales del siglo XX. Cuad. urbano [online]. 2014, vol.16, n.16, pp.87-106. ISSN 1853-3655.

The second half of the XX century - mainly during its last two decades - has seen, in many western cities the emergence of a territorial model which signifed a qualitative leap with respect to the previous model of urban spatial configuration. The appearance of the new urban peripheries resulted firom a process closely linked to forms of accumulation emerging firom capitalism's current, post-fordist phase. This process has been abundantly covered by recent bibliography. On the basis of the analysis of a médium sized city in Argentina, this paper attempts to show the specific way that the hyper consumptive model has crystallized in environmentally critical spaces, firom which has emerged a form of occupation of territory which contradicts the premises of the original model of prívate neighborhood growth.
