Abstract

GAGGINO, Rosana. Salubridad, sustentabilidad ecológica y costo de tecnologías constructivas para la vivienda de interés social. Cuad. urbano [online]. 2014, vol.17, n.17, pp.113-144. ISSN 1853-3655.

The Experimental Center for Economic Housing - CEVE - has developed different building technologies for social housing since its creation 45 years ago. In the first decades of the existence of this institution, its main concern was to obtain low-cost technologies, to help in reducing the housing deficit of our country. In the last decade this concern continues, but it has now incorporated, as a premise, to contribute to reducing environmental pollution with sustainable buildings through the development of new building components made from recycled plastic waste. However the health dimensions of these building technologies, as developed by CEVE had not been analyzed and compared to other alternatives until now. This paper develops such comparisons in relation to ecological sustainability, costs and public health considerations..

Keywords : Construction, technology, social housing, sustainability, public health.
