Abstract

MARTINEZ GARCIA, Edgar Ezequiel; BAERISWYL RADA, Sergio  and  FUENTES, Pablo. Análisis de la sostenibilidad social en tipologías residenciales del gran concepción (CHILE). Cuad. urbano [online]. 2015, vol.19, n.19, pp.5-28. ISSN 1853-3655.

The social dimension has been commonly recognized as the weakest and least developed aspect of sustainable urban development. This paper presents the results of research that explores the identification of metrics to measure social sustainability in housing complexes. It analyzes three Chilean residential complexes in the city of Greater Concepción with different typological characteristics and representative models of urban growth. The results obtained in this study allow us to identify the key indicators for measuring social sustainability, currently discussed in the field, and their applicability in the evaluation of three residential complexes. The results suggest the need to review the way in which we are constructing urban paradigms, in general in relation to growth models and, specifically, as they affect the typologies of residential complexes and associated public policy.

Keywords : Social sustainability, residential complexes, social capital, urban sprawl, density, Greater Concepción.
