The "2 Kilometre Neighbourhoods" consist of a set of subdivisions sited on old rustic lands of the City of Santa Fe. They were plotted early in the XX Century, two thousand metres North of the French railway company main station. The urban structure had hardly gone beyond the station's boundaries when the urbanization process began to develop discon-tinuously over those plots. The Company's railway workshops, which were installed 2 KM from the station played a decisive role in that urban expansion. The objective of this article is to explain the urbanization's configuration and to emphasise the neighbourhood associations' role in obtaining improvements and neutralising their urban problems.
