Abstract

FORTUNY VILA, Joan A  and  GONZALEZ, Julián Galindo. ESPACIO RESIDENCIAL CONTEMPORÁNEO EN CIUDADES MEDIAS ESPAÑOLAS ¿PROCESO REGLADO O PROYECTO INTENCIONADO?: DEL DISEÑO DE LOS SISTEMAS ESTRUCTURALES A LOS LUGARES DE INTERACCIÓN ESTRUCTURAL. Cuad. urbano [online]. 2016, vol.21, n.21. ISSN 1853-3655.

CONTEMPORARY RESIDENTIAL ÁREAS IN MÉDIUM SIZED SPANISH CITIES. A regulated or a planned process? From the design of structural systems to places of structural interaction Contemporary residential urban projects are one of the main instruments in the construction of the current city. The contribution of public facilities and public spaces with high standards generated through the urban systems, has been determinanant in the design of the city and of the current urban image. Médium size Spanish cities, objects of this research,, have had important extensions with projects with high levéis of urbanization and significant public space, but with low valúes of urbanity. Contemporary processes of planning and city design, have resulted in situations of physical and functional segregation, an overdetermination of form, a lack of control of the distances and a low interaction between the distinct urban elements, resulting, in many cases, in a lack of civic activity and urban life. The recovery of some of the valúes of the historical and industrial city, could be paradigmatic design instruments in overcoming the design pathologies of today's cities.

Keywords : Urban design, urban planning, urban residential project, urban space.
