Abstract

FABARON, Ana Clara. Differentiated zones, borders and sociabilities in a tourist neighborhood of Buenos Aires. Cuad. urbano [online]. 2019, vol.26, n.26, pp.109-132. ISSN 1853-3655.  http://dx.doi.org/10.30972/crn.26263792.

This article aims to reconstruct the main demarcations that define zones and borders and theirs relations with socio-spatial segregation forms in "La Boca", a neighborhood in the southern area of Buenos Aires city, where urban reconversion processes and housing deficit come together in a frame of a strong tourist growth. It´s interesting to concern, on one hand, the material and symbolic contrasts between areas where concentrates urban restructuring actions and areas that are outside from the legitimated circuits. Concurrently, making focus in the space-temporal inhabitants and users' practices, the purpose is to make sharp distinctions more complex, to obtain maps and detect temporalities, uses, itineraries and sociability shapes differentiated. The analysis is based on an ethnographic research and secondary sources.

Keywords : Zones; borders; sociability; segregation.
