Abstract

KELLER, Héctor Alejandro. Ka' aguachu: " The forest in a single tree": A contribution of the Ava Chiripa mithology to the toponimy of the guaranitic region. Estudios Socioterritoriales [online]. 2013, vol.13. ISSN 1853-4392.

On the basis of narratives of the Ava Chiripa guaranis residents in Misiones Province, Argentina, the toponymical expression Caaguazú, frequent in Paraguay, Brazil, Bolivian and Argentina, are treated here. The ambiguity of this expression is due to the word " caa" (ka' a) that signifies " forest" and at the same time " paraguayan tea" . The tales recorded and translated here not resolve this ambiguity, but legitimate it.

Keywords : Mithography; Guarani peoples; Patches of forest; Paraguayan tea.
