Within the geographical analysis, and also within other sciences, we see that the use of synthetic indices has greatly increased. With a view to contribute to these analyzes, this paper aims to promote a discussion about the Index Mineiro of Social Responsibility (IMRS) as a tool for geographic analysis. To this end, the IMRS is applied to analyze the context meso regional of the Oliveira-MG, Brazil. In addition to this larger purpose, the work also seeks to disseminate this important database that, in the academic scope, has been little used.
