Abstract

MAZZONI, Elizabeth. Landscape units as a basis for the organization and land management. Estudios Socioterritoriales [online]. 2014, vol.16, suppl.1. ISSN 1853-4392.

The term "landscape" was incorporated into the technical vocabulary of geography in the early nineteenth century, although its meaning had changed over time and now recognizes at least two meanings. Together with the various interpretations, the landscape study is approached from various philosophical concepts and different methods. This paper summarizes the evolution of the landscape concept and ways to address it from Geography is performed, considering that landscape units (at different scales) provide a base for the organization and territorial management. It also presents some examples of delimitation carried out in Patagonia.
