Abstract

The mass media, among other devices of contemporary culture, constitute a powerful cultural and ideological force in the complex processes of geographic imagination and geographical imaginary production and conversion that people construct about the city. In this line of interpretation, we intend to expose how the news headlines support standardized and negative discursive regimes on Gran Buenos Aires/Conurbano Bonaerense of Buenos Aires metropolitan area (AMBA), so that, consciously or not, it reenact and invigorate the idea of conceiving that part of the metropolis as a "beyond the white city" which is the nation s capital.
