Abstract
ASTELARRA, Sofía and DOMINGUEZ, Diego. The junqueros of the Paraná delta islands: emerging subjects in a threatened territory. Estudios Socioterritoriales [online]. 2015, vol.17. ISSN 1853-4392.
Through out the last two decades, rural settings were characterized by an intense increase of private ownership and common goods and ecosystems exploitation, as well as by a growing social unrest. It is territorial rearrangement processes and dispute that show the emergence and make visible the existence of collective entities, carrying unique territorialities, able to project them in public space. In this framework we will investigate the emergence-in the public sphere- of an invisible social subject: the junqueros of the first section of the Delta Islands located in the Tigre, Argentina. Historically, junqueros, as part of island populations, have shaped a unique way of life, production and knowledge, which is being violated and threatened as a result of the territorial rearrangement of rural areas.
