Abstract

FURLAN, Adriano. Electricity supply and touristic development in the atlantic coast of Buenos Aires province (2003-2015): Articulations and impacts. Estudios Socioterritoriales [online]. 2017, vol.21. ISSN 1853-4392.

The article seeks to understand the articulation of power supply in the tourist space of the Atlantic coast of the province of Buenos Aires between 2003-2015. The research is part of the Latin American perspective of the study of infrastructure services, that is, in contexts of peripheral capitalism and dependent urbanization. The relationship between tourist development and electric-supply is interpreted as a local manifestation of the economic and territorial national development and whose underlying guidelines of accumulation patterns are formalized since 2003, but overbuilt in the existing spatial structure. The impacts analyzed are sorted into three categories: seasonality of electricity demand, urban growth and management of supply shortages. The collection and analysis of data consists of document review, statistical description and interviews with qualified informants. It is concluded that the study of the development, functioning and the constitutive relations of power supply gain weight by integrating a geographic perspective.

Keywords : Infraestructure services; Energy; Technical networks; Touristic space.
