Abstract

STARICCO, Juan Ignacio. ¿Can Fairtrade institutionalize alternative socioeconomic relations?: The case of the Argentinean wine sector. Estudios Socioterritoriales [online]. 2018, vol.23. ISSN 1853-4392.

Fairtrade International, a network of NGOs, has developed a voluntary certification with the goal of structuring alternative relations of production, exchange and consumption in favor of small producers and rural workers in the Southern hemisphere. This article develops an analytical framework on the basis of the Regulation Approach with the goal of assessing Fairtrade's transformative capacity. The empirical analysis is based on the case of Fairtrade wine produced in Argentina and consumed in the United Kingdom.

Keywords : Fairtrade; Fair trade; Fairtrade; Regulation Approach; Wine.
