Abstract

BARBERO, Dante Andrés. Optimization of logistics tasks in pandemic times. The case of volunteers’ assignment to assist people that can not get out of their households. Estudios Socioterritoriales [online]. 2020, vol.28, pp.65-65. ISSN 1853-4392.  http://dx.doi.org/10.37838/unicen/est.28-065.

Within the framework of the current quarantine established, in order to contain the advance of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), this work analyze how to optimally assign volunteers to people who need assistance because they are unable to leave their homes. For this, the structure of a support system for decision-making is presented, which, based on the geolocation of volunteers and people who demand assistance, can suggest how they should be assigned in order to optimize (to minimize in this case) the sum of the distances (or the time it takes to travel) between the addresses of each pair of volunteer/assisted person. Being able to identify the optimal allocation will reduce the necessary displacements or the circulation time required to carry out assistance tasks and will make it possible to help those who need it.
