Abstract

SEVAL, Martín. The new-regionalist discourse and productive regions in the development strategy of recent Argentina (2006-2015). Estudios Socioterritoriales [online]. 2020, vol.28, pp.67-67.  Epub Dec 16, 2020. ISSN 1853-4392.  http://dx.doi.org/10.37838/unicen/est.28-067.

The region as a category shows continuity in Argentina despite its discrediting and abandonment by an important part of geography and other social sciences. This situation becomes evident at the beginning of the 21st century due to the promotion of productive regions from a development strategy that involves the application of new regionalist concepts suggested by international financing agencies. In this context, the objective of this article is to contextualize and characterize the irruption of the new-regionalist discourse in the vernacular regional debate with the aim of analyzing its diffusion and territorialization in Argentina in the first decade of application of this strategy (2006-2015). For this, contributions from regional geography and economic geography will be taken and the programs deployed and cases promoted will be analyzed, seeking to appreciate the characteristics of the productive regions in recent Argentina.
