Abstract

DURAN, Rodrigo Javier  and  CONDORI, Miguel Ángel. The social tariff scope on energy poverty households in urban Argentina during the 2016-2018 period. Estudios Socioterritoriales [online]. 2021, vol.29, pp.75-75. ISSN 1853-4392.  http://dx.doi.org/10.37838/unicen/est.29-206.

In this contribution, by defining an energy poverty index based on the ratio of total family income dedicated to energy expenditure, we present an analysis of the coverage of the social tariff, characterizing those households that are in the energy poverty situation and are not covered by the subsidy. The indicator was defined by including the average cost of access to energy by urban agglomerate in the Permanent Household Survey, for which we used data from the Ministry of Energy of the Nation, ENARGAS, CAMMESA, and tariff tables according to providers of the services. As a result, we observe that the social tariff reaches, in the period 2016-2018, between 43% to 55% of households in energy poverty situation.

Keywords : Social tariff; Energy poverty; Urban poverty; Social exclusión.
