Abstract

LANUSSE, Nazareno. Social media and territory: Argentinian Human Rights organizations in the call and mobilization for the “NO to 2x1” in convictions for crimes against humanity. Estudios Socioterritoriales [online]. 2021, vol.30, pp.98-98. ISSN 1853-4392.  http://dx.doi.org/10.37838/unicen/est.30-312.

The present work seeks to analyze the mediation carried out by social networks in the use of territory, based on the study of the case that managed to give visibility again to the struggle for human rights in the social mobilization of the “NO to 2x1” in the sentences of crimes against humanity, which occurred in 2017 in Argentina. There, a particular phenomenon could be observed due to the displacement of the virtual to the territory, since a call that emerged from the digital came to materialize in the use of the territory, from a historical mobilization in the streets. In that sense, starting with a revision of the theoretical categories of territory and geographical space, understanding this last one as a social product, it is that it is reached the conclusion that the mediated use of the territory can be intervened by the virtual social networks.

Keywords : Territory; Geographic space; Social networks; Human rights.
