Abstract

OLEJARCZYK, Romina. Environmental risk as a category to relocate the population of the streams in the municipality of Almirante Brown. Estudios Socioterritoriales [online]. 2021, vol.30, pp.101-101. ISSN 1853-4392.  http://dx.doi.org/10.37838/unicen/est.30-315.

In this article I reflect on “environmental risk” as the official category that bases and guides the relocation processes of the population of the Matanza-Riachuelo basin. This category has been operationalized in a series of definitions and indicators -which have been reflected in official documents and maps- and which justify where the State should intervene, with what urgency and involving whom. Environmental risk also operates as a native category present in the discourse of the decision-makers and executors of this public policy, as well as in the voice of the inhabitants of the streams. So, i propose giving an account for the multiplicity of meanings produced around the notion of “environmental risk” in the trenches of this public policy, from an ethnographic perspective.
