Abstract

One of the most significant social phenomena of the Cuban 20 century was the ecclesiastical revival. Of the range of churches established in Cuba, there were the Catholic Church and the western Baptist Church to explain this phenomenon in a nation where, after the triumph of the 1959 revolution, Soviet Marxism was adopted, one of whose fundamental components is scientific atheism, as an ideology and methodology for the refunding of the nation, relegating the Church to the social periphery for more than 30 years? The paper that we socio-economic crisis of the 1959, produced by the disappearance of the European socialist bloc, and the ecclesiastical revival experienced in Cuba in the early 1990s.
