INTRODUCTION
: An epidemic of yellow fever occurred in Buenos Aires in 1871, which was preceded shortly before by another one in Corrientes, both Argentine cities. Due to the massive impact, lethality and poor conditions of the health care system, it soon became a catastrophic situation. In a few months, the epidemic caused the death of approximately 8% of the city inhabitants. According to different secondary sources, there were deep demographic, social and cultural changes, leaving behind a mark on the historical evolution of this city and the whole country.
