Abstract

URCOLA, Marcos. CIT articulation in the agricultural sector of the Argentinean Pampa: usage of mobile phones, computers and Internet by producers in a town of southern Santa Fe. Temas debates (En línea) [online]. 2012, n.23, pp.73-100. ISSN 1853-984X.

The purpose of this article is to provide some hypothetical and empirical concepts regarding the profound transformations undergone by the rural sector in the Argentinean Pampa, where technological changes have had a significant impact both on productive and everyday life never seen before in the history of this area. We will consider that the agricultural productive pattern has changed, not only as a result of technical and productive development, but also in relation to the possibilities offered by Communication and Information Technologies (CIT). In this case, we will share some thoughts and hypothesis resulting from a series of interviews to agricultural producers and representatives of the agricultural sector in Bigand (a town of Southern Santa Fe), which provide an exploratory approximation to the articulation of CIT and the agricultural sector of the Argentinean Pampa. For that purpose, we will share some of the socio-productive strategic results revealed by agricultural producers of the area, the importance of CIT and their effect on certain changes affecting their family organization of work, productive profiles and lifestyle.

Keywords : Agro pampeano; CIT; Family agriculture.
