Abstract

This article analyzes the advice about raising children given by the prestigious Argentinean pediatrician Florencio Escardó, under Dr. Bonanfant pseudonym, which were published in the magazine El Hogar between December, 1937 and March, 1940. These recommendations can be read as early inclusions of Psy and Escolanovista knowledge in the field of Popular Pediatrics. The analysis I propose here becomes interesting due to the fact that Escardó could challenge the usual methods of raising children based on punishment and an unquestionable parental authority- through the combination of these ideas, without breaking off the medical tutoring of fathers and mothers.
