Abstract

JIMENEZ ZUNINO, Cecilia Inés. ¿Estudiar o trabajar?: Dilemas en la formación de profesionales de clase media en Córdoba (Argentina). Propuesta educativa (Online) [online]. 2017, n.48, pp.93-96. ISSN 1995-7785.

In this article we analyze the ways in which middle-class agents invest and accumulate cultural capital (both in embodied and institutionalized state) in order to insert themselves in the labor market. The empirical material presented derives from two research projects in course that share a relational epistemological approach and combine quantitative and qualitative methodology: on the one hand, a collective project concerning social classes in Córdoba, on the other, an individual one concerning middle-classes. First, we present some considerations on the role that cultural capital, given the particularities of this resource, plays in the conformation and reproduction of middle classes. Then we discuss the articulation between studies and insertion in the labor market in the present context of crisis of reproduction of the middle classes. Finally, we sketch some trajectories of investment of cultural capital and valorisation in the labor market of agents that hold different positions in the middle classes. The cases were selected from Córdoba’s space of social classes.
