Abstract

CEREZO, Leticia. Primeros pasos en la universidad pública de jóvenes en situación de vulnerabilidad social: sus experiencias vinculadas al tiempo, espacio y saberes. Propuesta educativa (Online) [online]. 2017, n.48, pp.74-82. ISSN 1995-7785.

The admission to the universities of young people belonging to social strata that traditionally did not enter the university in Argentina, university massification through, although it accounts for a process of educational inclusion, coexist with inequalities in their relative participation as well as with social gaps in rates of dropout and graduation. This situation invites us to reflect on the experiences of these students within the universities and the impact that different elements have on their educational trajectories. Applying quantitative techniques we approach the experiences of young people in situation of social vulnerability of Greater Buenos Aires around two aspects: the processes of adaptation to time and space proposed by the universities; and the practices deployed around the knowledge in the university. We observe that the acquisition of time, space and knowledge proposed by the university demands a process of adaptation, incurring experiences of trial and error, which usually extends during the first year of the career and usually falls on students. This "adaptation" usually takes place in the absence of institutional figures that could help them in the passage from one level to another and in their trajectory.
