Abstract

BRITO, ANDREA. Reconfigurations of Teaching: Notes for Thinking about Teaching and its Training in the Pedagogical Use of ICTs. Propuesta educativa (Online) [online]. 2021, n.56, pp.40-56. ISSN 1995-7785.

Like any action aimed at changing education systems, ICT policies implemented in Latin America during the last few decades have emphasized the central role played by teachers. In this scenario, strategies with diverse formats and scopes have been carried out, leading to a still unsolved debate about their characteristics and impact. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic greatly exposed the urgency and relevance of this debate. The closure of face-to-face activities of educational institutions to prevent the spread of the virus drove teachers towards the use of ICT to maintain educational continuity. While teachers’ performance revealed their ability to reinvent educational practices, it also brought to light some concerning aspects about teacher training processes. In this article, we are interested in addressing these aspects, some of which reaffirms already acknowledged challenges while others need to be given new meaning in the current context with a view to the future.

Keywords : ICT education policies; Pandemic and educational continuity; Teaching practices; Educational change; Use of ICT for teaching; Teacher training.
