Abstract

SOSA, MARIANA LUCÍA. Effects of the pandemic on TVET secondary education and its relationship with inequalities in Argentina. Propuesta educativa (Online) [online]. 2022, n.57, pp.75-88. ISSN 1995-7785.

The Covid-19 pandemic generated economic and social problems of various kinds, but above all it allowed the growing existing inequalities to become visible. In this framework, this article aims to analyze the effects of the pandemic on technical education at the secondary level in the context of the reconfiguration and deepening of previously existing inequalities in Argentina. To do this, the information from the National Survey of Pedagogical Continuity carried out by the Ministry of National Education during the years 2020 and the one that carried out this project jointly with said Ministry in the year 2021 is analyzed, considering two axes. Firstly, the continuity of the pedagogical process during the pandemic in secondary schools was analyzed and secondly, the focus was on the continuity of professionalizing practices, both axes focused on the case of technical-vocational schools. The main difficulties that the students had to face were identified according to the modality and orientation of the secondary school and the socioeconomic level of the students.

Among the main results of the study, it can be highlighted that the important difficulties faced by students and their families in relation to pedagogical continuity are linked to pre-existing economic limitations. Likewise, considering the peculiarities of the TVET modality, linked to training of a practical nature, different situations could be observed in the development of practical activities in workshops and laboratories and in PP, which show some specificities according to orientation.
