GENDER INEQUALITIES, JOB INSECURITY AND STEREOTYPES. GOING THROUGH THE PANDEMIC AS A JOURNALIST IN A TRADITIONAL NEWSROOM. The article proposes an analysis of the conditions of inequality, in which women journalists carry out their work and productive routines in the newsroom of the newspaper La Nación, from a gender perspective, and in the context of isolation due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In turn, in a complementary manner, a quantitative study of the journalistic frames around the Voluntary Interruption of Pregnancy (IVE), during the month of December 2020, was added. This articulation allowed us to understand, in a more comprehensive way, how the organizational structure of a medium and its production conditions leave traces in the selection, ranking and news treatment of a key issue in the struggle for the expansion of gender rights.

Among the results, we observe that La Nación, one of the most important and traditional media outlets in Argentina, presents an unequal organization in all the dimensions analyzed in its leadership and in the journalistic newsroom, while men occupy the highest-ranking positions and women are relegated to the base of the pyramid and to sections considered “soft or feminist”. The gap is also found in wages and in more precarious and unstable working conditions, accentuated by the pandemic isolation scenario, which resulted in a "double shift" for press workers (mothers), due to the prescription of remote work without social organization of care by the company. In turn, the field work allowed us to observe how prejudices and stereotypes based on gender are reproduced in the workplace.

From gender and feminist studies, we understand that the patriarchal order imposes power relations marked by the inferiority of women compared to men, and defines a social organization based on sex-gender differences that includes everything from the division of labor to the constructions of meaning around problems and social needs.
