Abstract

DE MATTEI, Josefina. El activismo de los seguidores del K-Pop en las redes sociales mediáticas. Intersecc. comun. (En línea) [online]. 2022, vol.2, n.16, pp.9-9. ISSN 2250-4184.  http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.51385/ic.v2i16.169.

Through the administration of their own media in social media networks, individuals generate discourses that can be constituted by operations from the contemporary art. From their accounts, they circulate them and, in the same way, they can also act on a certain topic of interest. This is possible because individuals are grouped into communities by common tastes and expectations and interact within them. The communication and information technologies propitiate this scene, which leads to the configuration of new cultural practices.

This work will address three events of activism in media social networks by K-pop fans, based on the analysis of discourses published from their accounts to show mechanisms of appropriation, intervention, decontextualization, combination, assemblies and mounting. The first, linked to the content they generated to avoid citizen complaints in the mobilizations unleashed after the murder of George Floyd in 2020 by the US Police. The sabotage of a reporting app was followed by posts on Twitter and later the opposite reactions to #WhiteLivesMatter. The second case refers to the criticism of kpopers with worldwide effects in the face of racism promoted by the Spanish political party VOX, also on Twitter. Finally, the way in which K-pop followers, together with tiktokers, made visible the boycott of Donald Trump's first campaign event that same year from TikTok. The three examples also show that the mediated discourses of the collectives are able of to affect political and state institutions.

Keywords : culture; contemporary art; mediatization; Twitter; TikTok.
