Abstract

ROSENBERG, Laura. Hacia una comunicación con perspectiva de derechos humanos: la configuración del rol de las editoras de género en medios de comunicación en Argentina (2019 – 2023). Intersecc. comun. (En línea) [online]. 2023, vol.2, n.17, pp.8-8. ISSN 2250-4184.  http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.51385/ic.v2i17.197.

Since 2019, public and private media outlets in Argentina began to incorporate the gender editor role. Limited international precedent –the first designation occurred at The New York Times in 2017 – turned the country a distinctive case in Latin America, as it included the new journalistic role in 13 regional and national media within 2019 and 2023. The analysis is situated in a very unique sociopolitical context, where the massiveness of the feminist movement converged with reactions from anti-feminist and far-right sectors.

From a qualitative approach, the research inquires about the factors that converged in the creation of the new role in Argentinian media, regarding three dimensions of analysis: macrostructural, organizational and deontological.

The article also questions the relation between the process of creation of the new journalistic profile and the attempts to legitimize journalistic roles and practices that are committed to human rights causes.

Keywords : Journalism – Gender – Gender editor – Human Rights – Media.
