Abstract

STUCHI, Adriano Marcus; PAZ, Wésley Lima da; JARDIM, Fabio Rocha Gomes  and  VAZ, Leonardo dos Santos. Low-cost Tesla coil proposal for use in scientific exhibitions and classroom demonstrations. Rev. enseñ. fís. [online]. 2021, vol.33, n.1, pp.111-120. ISSN 0326-7091.

The Tesla coil is a device that can be very useful in high school and higher education from a formal perspective, in addition to the beautiful visual effects and playful character that also attract attention in scientific exhibitions. This work presents an alternative for the construction of a medium power coil made with semiconductors and a flyback transformer, of low cost and easy handling. The assembly was performed by the Physics team at the Caminhao com Ciencia at the Universidade Estadual de Santa Cruz, an itinerant extension action to popularize Science in the south of Bahia. Two experiences made during the exhibitions are presented.

Keywords : Tesla Coil; Electromagnetism; Traveling scientific exhibitions; Low-cost experiments.
