Abstract

SOLINAS, David et al. Retroperitoneal leiomyosarcoma with resection of the vena cava. Rev. argent. cir. [online]. 2021, vol.113, n.2, pp.248-252. ISSN 2250-639X.  http://dx.doi.org/10.25132/raac.v113.n2.1499.ei.

Vascular leiomyosarcomas are rare tumors and are usually localized in the inferior vena cava (IVC). They usually occur in the 6th decade of life.

They are classified into 3 groups according to the relation with the hepatic and renal veins.

The clinical presentation is unspecific, ranging from an incidental finding to symptoms of venous pelvis congestion of lower extremity edema.

Radical resection is the treatment of choice and requires multidisciplinary team trained in retroperitoneal and vascular surgery.

Keywords : Leiomyosarcoma; Retroperitoneum; Inferior vena cava resection; Sarcomas.
