The present article, it will realize a historical review of the processes of institutionalization of the secondary teachers in his relation with the Chilean State. One of the intentions, it is actors investigate in the participation of this in the construction of his profession and, another idea forces there is to try to realize one (of several) reconstruction of the institutionalization of the secondary education in which these teachers, undoubtedly, have realized efforts for expiring with his professional desire, with his vocational passion and with his trade-union longing. For the production of this work, there were checked a series of books, official documents and of author (edited and without editing), being a fundamental input for this brief reconstruction of the history of the educational profession. It is necessary to him to indicate finally, that the Chilean literature, in general, does not realize a distinction detailed with regard to the level of education of the teachers, except some authors who will be treated in this section. The article seeks to approach in an integrated way, the education in Chile from his republican beginnings and, the figure of the secondary teacher in relation to the construction and transformation of his profession across the time.
