Abstract
CORNEJO, Jorge Norberto and SANTILLI, Haydee. La influencia de Condillac en la ensenanza de las ciencias en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires (1810-1830). Hist. educ. anu. [online]. 2013, vol.14, n.1, pp.21-42. ISSN 2313-9277.
In this paper we analyze the influence that Condillac's philosophy had in the Argentine education, especially in science education, during the two decades following the Revolution of May. It strengthens the belief that scholastic philosophy and Catholic theology were closely related to the dependence from the Spanish crown, at that time. It is replaced the neoscholastics and the metaphysical speculations with empirical or ideological themes, such as those by Cabanis' and Destutt de Tracy's works, both followers of Condillac. Such influence will be particularly relevant to the mathematics teaching through the work of Felipe Senillosa and Avelino Diaz. We find evidence of the strong empirical bias that the science teaching acquired in the Rio de la Plata, through the analysis of these authors' texts, which were written by the period 1810-1830. Finally, we will study the decline of this trend, after Caseros battle, which would be replaced by new wave, supported by social philosophy and the positivism of Saint Simon and Auguste Comte.
