Abstract

In order to contribute to the reflection on the importance and influence of the thought of Jesualdo Sosa in the teaching of children's literature in Brazil ant to contribute to the understanding of the circulation of Latin America pedagogical models in the Brazilian context, it is focalized in this paper aspects of the thought about children's literature formulated by the educator and poet Uruguayan Jesualdo Sosa (1905-1982) and contained in the book La literatura infantil. This book, published in 1944 by Editorial Losada (Argentina), was widely circulated among Brazilian educators concerned with issues of children's literature. Due to these aspects, La literatura infantil was translated into Portuguese and published in 1974 by Cultrix (Brazil).The results obtained by the analysis of this book possible to understand that, although planned and executed based on the educational context and literary Uruguay and Mexico, countries where Jesualdo Sosa worked, it has been widely used among Brazilian educators. With this, it became recurring reference in the children's literature text book and children's literature research. In addition, La literatura infantil, in Spanish version or in Portuguese version, it contributed and influenced significantly to the creation of a set of knowledge about children's literature in Brazil.
