Abstract

The añide is about a review ofthe biographicalfeatures of Latín Americanist Uruguayan historian Lucía Sala in the different áreas of her professional, political and personal Ufe. Her rich personality, marked by commitment, is addressed not only in terms of her research and teaching experience in her subject, but also in her impact on a large number of people from the most diverse fields with which she had contad for professional, political or simply human reasons both in Uruguay and México, where she was given diplomatic asylum. From her teaching training it is possible to track her irruption in the Uruguayan historiographical environment, her status as a communist militant persecuted at different times in her Ufe and her insertion in the Mexican academia.
