Abstract
ALMIRON, Victoria Soledad; PADAWER, Ana and ARTIEDA, Teresa Laura. Políticas y prácticas de alfabetización de misioneros protestantes entre qom del noroeste chaqueño (Argentina, Chaco, 1964 - 1973 circa ). Hist. educ. anu. [online]. 2017, vol.18, n.2, pp.1-10. ISSN 2313-9277.
The ‘60s and ‘70s decades were a pe riod of great impulse to the indigenous literacy in Chaco (North - east of Argentina). States, religious organizations and civil associations developed heterogeneous literacy policies and, in some instances, divergent. This article addresses the literacy act ions developed between 1964 and 1973 circa by Protestant streams joined in the Junta Unida de Misiones (JUM), and which were destined to Qom natives from the extreme North - west of Chaco. The social, religious and educational project of the JUM is analyzed in order to account for the fact that the missionary Protestant intervention became the scenario for access to Qom/Spanish bilingual reading and writing practices for this region Qom. From documentary sources, the works of other researchers and interviews to literacy teachers and literate natives, we reconstructed the historical conditions of access to reading and writing practices of this population: state literacy policies, institutional features of the JUM (policy and actions, geographic areas of coverag e, target groups and participant missionaries), relationships with the State, literacy purposes, written materials.
