Abstract

SUASNABAR, Claudio. Francisco Berra y la primera cátedra de Ciencia de la Educación: los orígenes del pensamiento pedagógico entre el naturalismo y el positivismo. Hist. educ. anu. [online]. 2018, vol.19, n.1, pp.1-10. ISSN 2313-9277.

The emergence of a discipline of education in Argentina field occurs simultaneously with its global configuration. Thus, the beginnings ofits institutionalization in the university field isfound in the creation of the Chair of Educational Sciences in 1896 in the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts of the UBA. Usually, the period of formation ofthe educational system is associated to the moment of dissemination and expansión of pedagogical positivism as an educational ideology. This current of thought will have its greatest expression with the creation in 1905 of the Pedagogical Section under the direction of Víctor Merchant in the UN of La Plata, should also he located in this trend to the successor of Berra in the chair of the UBA, Carlos Octavio Bunge who will serve until his death in 1918. In this regard, the historiography ofthe period has paid almost no attention to the pedagogical thought of Francisco Berra, relegating his role to the role of pioneer as the first professor of Science of Education and first director of schools. In this sense, the article focases its interest on some features of educational thought in its origins where the tensión between naturalism and positivism is clearly observed.
